Early cancer detection, powered by AI and multiomics science.

About accentedge Health

accentedge Health is a Chicago-headquartered medical-AI company applying artificial intelligence and breakthrough multiomics science to early cancer detection, with a vision of a future where cancer no longer claims lives. Our foundational model, ABCD (AI Biomarker Cancer Detection), and our clinician-facing platform, doctari, are deployed in partnership with leading comprehensive cancer centers, major pharmaceutical organizations, and the U.S. Federal Government.

About the Role

The Senior Genomics Scientist leads sequencing operations at the bench — running short-read and long-read platforms, optimizing library preparation, and ensuring the quality of the genomic and transcriptomic data layers feeding ABCD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and optimize Illumina-class short-read and long-read (Nanopore/PacBio) sequencing workflows.
  • Lead nucleic-acid extraction, library preparation, and quality control across sample batches.
  • Maintain directional pre-PCR and post-PCR workflow discipline to prevent amplicon contamination.
  • Operate and maintain the sequencing room equipment on the vibration-isolated, separately conditioned slab.
  • Mentor research associates and contribute to assay development and validation.
  • Document protocols and results in alignment with chain-of-custody and future CAP/CLIA requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in genomics, molecular biology, or related field.
  • 5+ years hands-on NGS experience including both short- and long-read platforms.
  • Expertise in library prep chemistry and sequencing QC metrics.
  • Working knowledge of BSL-2 lab practice and biosafety cabinet operation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RNA sequencing and transcriptomics.
  • Familiarity with LIMS and sample tracking systems.
  • Assay validation experience in a regulated (CAP/CLIA) environment.

A Day in the Role

On-site lab role at the Chicago HQ, primarily at the bench and in the sequencing room, with time in the adjacent computational write-up zone.

Compensation & Benefits
