Early cancer detection, powered by AI and multiomics science
About accentedge Health
accentedge Health is a Chicago-headquartered medical-AI company applying artificial intelligence and breakthrough multiomics science to early cancer detection, with a vision of a future where cancer no longer claims lives. Our foundational model, ABCD (AI Biomarker Cancer Detection), and our clinician-facing platform, doctari, are deployed in partnership with leading comprehensive cancer centers, major pharmaceutical organizations, and the U.S. Federal Government.
About the Role
accentedge Health is shifting the cancer-care paradigm from late-stage intervention to early molecular detection. The Chief Scientific & Medical Officer (CSO/CMO) sets and owns the scientific and clinical vision behind ABCD, our AI Biomarker Cancer Detection foundational model, and ensures the science generated in our wet lab translates into clinically meaningful, validated outcomes for patients and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the overall scientific and clinical strategy spanning the multiomics pipeline (radiomics, genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and glycomics) and the ABCD model’s clinical validation.
- Provide medical and scientific leadership across the DNA Sequencing & Medical Science Research Lab and the AI Development teams, ensuring weekly iteration between data generation, modeling, and clinical hypotheses.
- Serve as the senior scientific voice with comprehensive cancer centers, pharmaceutical partners, and federal sponsors.
- Oversee clinical evidence package generation and the design of validation studies supporting regulatory and payer engagements.
- Chair scientific review of ABCD model performance, accuracy benchmarks, and bias/drift findings.
- Partner with Clinical & Regulatory Affairs on HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, CAP/CLIA pathway, and FDA strategy.
Required Qualifications
- MD, MD/PhD, or PhD in molecular biology, genomics, oncology, or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of leadership in translational oncology, molecular diagnostics, or precision medicine.
- Demonstrated track record translating laboratory science into validated clinical products.
- Deep understanding of multiomics data and next-generation sequencing.
- Experience engaging regulators, payers, and academic/clinical key opinion leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in oncology, pathology, or laboratory medicine.
- Experience standing up a CAP/CLIA-accredited or BSL-2 laboratory.
- Familiarity with AI/ML-enabled diagnostics and the regulatory landscape for software as a medical device (SaMD).
A Day in the Role
On a typical week the CSO/CMO moves between the lab write-up area and the AI model war rooms, reviews ABCD evaluation results, meets with clinical and pharma partners, and steers the scientific roadmap. This role is based at the Chicago HQ with regular presence in the lab and AI zones, and travels to partner and federal sites as needed.
